Held in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture between Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2, Toyo Tires co-sponsored as top sponsor, the 40th All Japan Cycling Championship BMX Racing. Toyo Tires sponsored team, Gan Trigger participated with two of the three riders achieving podium places. The third, Kiki Yoshimura was unable to participate due to an injury.
Ryo Shimada in the men's elite category was also affected by injury, but despite this, he pressed on taking victory in the first stage with a bold course selection. Continuing to the final, he maintained an aggressive stance, finishing 3rd overall.
Nishimura, who was eligible for the U-23 category, newly established last year, headed into the final with more optimism than usual. Aiming for 10 consecutive victories at the All Japan Tournament, after consecutive championship wins in her junior days, she was one step away before finishing runner-up.
The "Japan Cup" in November, will be the next big battleground with the title, Japanese champion on offer. With the frustration of this tournament as a springboard, both athletes will be training hard to recapture the crown.
